As a non-profit member based organisation, ACTS is a sector champion that aims to inspire, promote and support change towards best practice sustainability within the operations, curriculum and research of educational institutions. We actively seek to build community and business partnerships at the local, regional and international level, in order to bring together a network of people for positive engagement, capacity building and change.
Paramount to the success of the association is the time and dedication provided by our voluntary Executive Board. This passionate group of sustainability minded professionals and educators has guided the strategic direction of ACTS, supported its initiatives and broadened the standing of ACTS regionally and in an international arena. Each year the Executive Board is nominated and voted into positions at the ACTS AGM.

The ACTS Member Council was founded in 2015 with the aim to become the voice of our membership – providing input into the implementation and strategic direction of ACTS. The Member Council consists of Working Groups, each of which align with the three core strategic themes from the ACTS Strategy. These Working Groups will be instrumental in achieving the actions listed within the ACTS Strategy.
Any staff or student from an ACTS member institution may request to join the Member Council. Existing Executive Board members and Member Council members can also nominate colleagues to join the Member Council. Requests can be made in writing by contacting email@example.com. Upon joining the Member Council, members must align with one of the 3 strategic directions for ACTS (Leadership and Representations; Best Practice and Knowledge; or Viable Organisation) and join the associated working group.
