Sustainable Procurement Workshop

Jimmy Brannigan (EAUC/ESD Consulting)

Download the Flyer [PDF]

Sustainable procurement is a complex and novel domain for most organisations. We are responsible for the impact our purchasing activities have on the financial, social and environmental health of our institutions and the broader community.

Through sustainable procurement, we can use our buying power as organisations to give a signal to the market in favour of sustainability (eg. encourage the innovative production of cleaner and more ethical products), and equip purchasers with the skills needed to procure goods and services with the future in mind. Looking at sustainable procurement also has fantastic payoffs in terms of efficiencies in purchasing processes and practices as staff  learn to think smarter about whether they need to buy, what they need to buy, what to expect of suppliers and contractors, and the ongoing impacts an unsustainable or inefficient purchase can have through maintenance, running and disposal costs.

ACTS is bringing back our expert Jimmy Brannigan (EAUC/ESD Consulting) to run some interactive half day workshops on sustainable procurement. In this workshop, you will consider in more detail what sustainable procurement means, how to make the business case for doing it and discover how to get it moving in your organisation. This workshop is relevant and applicable to anyone looking into purchasing practices within their organisation, regardless of whether it is sustainability focussed or not. It is also relevant to those who simply want to find out more about what it all means.
