At Macquarie, my primary responsibility is to oversee the change towards sustainability within the principles and practices of the University through operations, education and engagement, and planning and development within the built infrastructure and strategic planning. In the context of ACTS, I’m excited about my role and the direction that we are taking to bring the tertiary education sector together. I hope that we can look back in 12-18 months time at our amazing achievements and successes as a result of the commitment and enthusiasm of our members.

Dr John Rafferty

Murray School of Education, Charles Sturt University
John is based at the Muray School of Education, Charles Sturt University, Albury Wodonga campus. His teaching is directed toward Education for Sustainability (EfS). His research is directed toward higher education responses to sustainability. Through his teaching and research John is developing artefacts and tools that assist in developing the university campus as a site and stimulus for learning about sustainability.

Lania Lynch
Environmental Coordinator, James Cook University
Lania works at the Cairns campus of JCU where she is privileged to work with staff and students towards a sustainable campus. As a long term board member, Lania will continue to work actively with the ACTS board and Advisory Board to build ACTS as the peak Australasian tertiary sustainability professional organisation to embed transformational sustainability into the sector in Australia, New Zealand and internationally.

I believe that the Higher Education and VET sectors need a structured forum to promote sustainability across research, teaching and campus operations. ACTS provides this governance as well as a mechanism to share ideas, reward successes and build collective momentum for behaviour change.

Pascaline Owers

Challenger Institute of Technology
Since 2009 Pascaline has been involved in promoting the Diploma of Sustainability to the student body and wider audience, including staff, at the Challenger Institute of Technology. She is passionate about sustainability and recognises the importance of the VET sector working in conjunction with Tertiary institutions to further education and demonstrate sustainable behaviour.

Griffith University EcoCentre
The Griffith University EcoCentre is a key element of the University’s Science, Environment, Engineering and Technology group promoting sustainable development, environmental education and community engagement. Delwyn works with government, industry and the wider community in the promotion of sustainability and environmental education and sits on many environmental working groups. Delwyn is the founding Secretary/Treasurer of ACTS.
