ACTS declares a Climate Emergency

An overwhelming 97% of ACTS members support the association making a Climate Emergency Declaration.

ACTS has joined leading networks and institutions working in Further and Higher Education globally in declaring a Climate Emergency in recognition of the need for a drastic societal shift to combat the growing threat of climate change.

ACTS President Corey Peterson said: “the climate crisis is the biggest self-inflicted challenge facing humanity and higher education institutions play a vital role in researching and implementing solutions and driving change. Declaring a climate emergency highlights the urgency of the situation to inspire further and wide-spread action.”

The higher education sector is a contributor to the climate crisis and we need to take immediate, active and effective steps to avoid climate breakdown. The  time is now to show leadership and to demonstrate that the higher education sector is an integral part of the solution.

ACTS encourages our members to join us in declaring a Climate Emergency and back this up with actions that will help create a better future for both people and our planet.
