This Ask Me Anything session invites ACTS members to engage directly with Rachael Miller, Sustainability Coordinator (Biodiversity) at the University of Melbourne.

Rachael will respond to your questions on measuring, managing and improving biodiversity outcomes across campus environments. Her work has focused on developing practical, scalable approaches to understanding biodiversity, including the Biodiversity Baseline Data Project (BBDP), which has helped establish clearer metrics, inform institutional targets, and guide investment in biodiversity initiatives.

This is an open, member-led session. You are encouraged to bring questions, challenges or ideas, whether you are starting to explore biodiversity on campus or looking to strengthen existing approaches. Topics may include:

  • Establishing biodiversity baselines and selecting meaningful metrics
  • Translating biodiversity goals into measurable outcomes
  • Using data to inform planning, reporting and investment
  • Engaging students through internships and living lab approaches
  • Navigating common challenges in biodiversity projects

Rachael’s approach is grounded in systems thinking and practical implementation, with a strong focus on sharing tools, lessons and approaches that others can adapt to their own context.

Ask Me Anything (AMA) sessions are informal, interactive events where ACTS members can ask questions directly to a featured practitioner from across the network.

Rather than presentations or case studies, these sessions are driven by participant questions. They provide a space to access practical insights from peers working in the sector and learn from both questions and shared experiences.

AMA sessions are designed to be open, practical and grounded in real-world sustainability work across the ACTS community.
