For almost 40 decades World Environment Day has worked to engage local and global communities to address environmental issues. This year the theme for World Environment Day is Ecosystem Restoration. This comes as we enter the UN decade on ecosystem restoration, calling for urgent action to protect and revive our degrading ecosystems.

Ecosystems are where living things interact with their environment, and we all depend on healthy ecosystems. Currently ecosystems are being destroyed at an alarming rate due to human consumption. The time to act is now.

In the lead up to World Environment Day on the 5th June we can take this opportunity to educate ourselves on the consequences of our actions and to work together to prevent further destruction of our ecosystems. We can help by reducing waste, preventing pollution and further land degradation, protecting our waterways and working to prevent loss of biodiversity. Visit the official World Environment Day website to learn more about what you can do to support this campaign.

For #actsofconnection we want you to reflect on your time spent in different ecosystems and how these natural places support life on our planet. Share a photo that you have taken of your favourite natural place and tell us why that location is special to you.

We will create a photo wall to showcase all of the places submitted and will draw a winner from the entries to receive an ACTS prize pack!
