Embedding the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into the curriculum of tertiary institutions is essential for preparing students, as future generations of leaders, professionals and change-makers, with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary to contribute meaningfully to sustainable development efforts in their respective fields. The diverse nature of the Goals, spanning social, economic, and environmental dimensions, also encourages interdisciplinary learning, where students explore complex problems from multiple perspectives and develop holistic solutions that consider diverse stakeholder interests.

This roundtable will focus on the efforts within ACTS member institutions to meaningfully and creatively embed the SDGs into curriculum. The meeting will feature a range of guest speakers, followed by Q&A and open discussion.

Featuring presenters:

– Alexandra Fransen, SDG Coordinator, University of Technology Sydney

– Gillian Vesty, CoBL AoL Coordinator, College of Business and Law, RMIT University

Member roundtables are an opportunity for sustainability educators and practitioners to connect in an informal virtual setting to share ideas, challenges and practical solutions with colleagues from across the ACTS network.

Each meeting features a small number of active participants, sharing learnings and experiences from their institution relating to the roundtable topic. Members can also register as non-presenting participants to listen, learn and contribute to open discussions.

There is no expectation for organisations to be doing everything perfectly (in reference to the roundtable topic), rather this is an opportunity to connect with fellow members within the ACTS community who are addressing similar challenges, and taking advantage of similar opportunities!
